The race to sign Marseille centre-forward Elye Wahi (22) is heating up as Bournemouth are set to rival West Ham United and Eintracht Frankfurt, according to L’Equipe. With Egyptian free-scoring sensation Omar Marmoush heading to Manchester City, Frankfurt need attacking reinforcements They reportedly consider that Wahi would flourish in the Bundesliga, following in the footsteps of fellow French Ligue 1 strikers the likes of Marcus Thuram, Randal Kolo Muani or Hugo Ekitike.
The outlet understands that Bournemouth, Eintracht and Bournemouth have all initiated contact with Wahi’s entourage and that the Hammers have blinked first in submitting a concrete bid to Marseille. West Ham have reportedly offered OM to sign Wahi on loan with a mandatory option to buy. Marseille would part ways with Wahi if the former Montpellier and RC Lens intends to kickstart his career in a different environment and if the price is right, namely close to the €30m mark Marseille paid Wahi for last summer.
Wahi plays a peripheral role in Roberto De Zerbi’s setup as the Italian manager now relies on Neal Maupay to lead the line. Wahi has logged three goals and one assist in 13 appearances for Les Phocéens, who host RC Strasbourg this Sunday evening.
