Brazil Star On Injury Recovery For Inter Milan 2-1 Feyenoord Win: ‘Returned As Soon As Possible’ Adds ‘Now I’m Focused On Atalanta’ | OneFootball

Wingback Carlos Augusto says that he “returned from injury as soon as possible” for Inter Milan.

The Brazilian spoke to InterTV, via FCInterNews, after this evening’s 2-1 Champions League win over Feyenoord. He also added that now he’s “focused on Atalanta.

Carlos Augusto was in the Inter Milan starting eleven against Feyenoord this evening.

This was the first match that the 25-year-old had started in over a month. He had been on the sidelines due to a calf knock that he sustained in last month’s Serie A clash with Juventus.

Augusto had come on as a substitute against Monza this past weekend. But this evening’s Champions League round of sixteen second leg marked his return to the starting lineup.

And Augusto’s return could not have come at a better time for Inter.

The Nerazzurri have been dealing with an out-and-out injury crisis on the left flank.

All of Matteo Darmian, Nicola Zalewski, and Federico Dimarco are on the sidelines at the moment, leaving Inter with very few players who can play at left-wingback.

But Augusto has managed to get back to fitness at a crucial time for the Nerazzurri.

After today’s match, Augusto said that “I’m doing well” on a fitness level.

“I did everything I could to return as soon as possible,” the Brazilian continued. “Because we have a lot of matches.”

“Now we have to recover. Because a very important match is up next for us.”

“We know it will be difficult,” Augusto said of facing Atalanta in Serie A next weekend. There is the feel of a potential title-decider to that match.

“But we’re focused,” he added.

“Now we’ll have Bayern Munich who are a tough team, difficult to play against.

But Augusto made clear that “we’re a big family, we’ll give our best.”

And Augusto also gave his thoughts on the Serie A title race. “Unlike last season, this one will be fought right to the end,” he said.

“Every match will be tricky.”

“We also had to suffer against Monza,” noted Augusto. “But it was an important win.”

“We rested, but we’re ready. We’re focused on Sunday’s match.”
