However, according to reports in Spain the Blues could have had a different winger in their ranks, with Relevo claiming Chelsea were one of the clubs who wanted to sign Barcelona’s Raphinha this summer.

In the summer of 2022 Chelsea had a bid accepted by Leeds for the Brazilian but he refused the move to Stamford Bridge and ended up making the switch to the La Liga giants.

Raphinha struggled under Xavi and he was constantly linked with a move away, and Relevo add that Saudi sides Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal tried to tempt him with big money offers and he reportedly also said no to Chelsea when they tried to sign him again.

The 27-year-old is clearly a player that has been admired by Chelsea, but the club have gone down a different route with the likes of Sancho and Neto, whilst they have talented South American youngsters Kendry Paez and Estevao Willian arriving in 2025.

The chapter appears very much closed and Raphinha seems happy with life at Barcelona and has had a brilliant start to the season under Hansi Flick, with five goals and three assists in eight La Liga matches.

Unless several players leave Chelsea, their fans won’t want to see the club linked with buying more wide players as it’s just completely unnecessary, and they already have a really talented crop on their books that appear to be thriving.
