As teams enter the final sprint in Ligue 1, the future of one of the most renowned managers in the top flight remains unclear. Eric Roy led Stade Brestois to the UEFA Champions League last season and has the Breton club in contention for European qualification once again this season, however, his current contract expires at the end of the season.
There had been talks over a renewal of Roy’s current deal. However, they then stopped. Speaking on Friday, the Frenchman has now revealed that talks have restarted with the club, although there has been “no real advancement” in the discussions. Roy added that he doesn’t know when a definitive decision on his future will be made, however, he did say that a decision would be made before the “holidays” at the end of the season.
“There is a need for the club and Greg (sporting director Grégory Lorenzi) told me to anticipate what comes next by the way. I’m not in charge of the calendar,” said Roy. The managerial situation at Brest therefore remains vague as the end of the season approaches.
