What the Toon need in January, is the next Papiss Cisse.

In January 2012, no many on Tyneside had heard of this goalscoring phenomenon, who plied his trade at Freiburg in the Bundesliga.

Me and Wor Lad had though, from reports we had received from a mate in exile in Germany.

Papiss Cisse was an instant goalscoring glutton at the Toon and quickly formed a sensational partnership with Demba Ba.

His record goal-busting run propelled United into 5th place in the Premier League and qualification for the Europa League.

United must go flat out in January to bring in the next Cisse.

Alexander Isak cannot do it all by himself, just like the classy and able Demba Ba couldn’t.

We cannot rely on Callum Wilson staying fit ever.

I like Will Osula but he is one for the future.

Say what you all like about bringing in a right-sided central defender or right winger, but it is a hungry striker capable of backing up or playing with our Rolls Royce Isak, that we really need.

It is time to spend the necessary coin which we have, to ignite the project that was started in October 2021.
