Cedric Itten has urged his Young Boys comrades not to be overwhelmed tonight in the Parkhead cauldron…

The two sides do battle on Matchday 7 in this year’s UEFA Champions League group stages and everyone is anticipating a red-hot atmosphere when kick-off approaches.

The Hoops need a victory to get themselves into the knockout rounds of the tournament and whilst the Swiss Champions are on course to win the wooden spoon, there is still pride, coefficient points and crucially, money to play for on their end. That makes it by no means a gimme match for the Bhoys or a done deal as some would have you believe at times.

Brendan Rodgers’ side will have to be diligent and also be patient if they fail to open the floodgates early doors in the match. Itten, who is formerly of our arch-rivals theRangers, has urged his team not to do the unthinkable and crumble in the boiling temperature of Celtic Park this evening and lose an early goal in the process. He said via Glasgow Times: “The place will be full of 60,000 fans. And they are loud…very loud, in fact!

“They stand up and join in with every action. You have to fight back at the beginning and not let in a goal in the first 15 minutes. That would be the worst thing that could happen. The stadium would be on fire! I will tell my teammates that. Celtic are really strong. I still follow the Scottish league, especially the Old Firm derbies. Celtic are way ahead. They will throw everything into it and play at full throttle.”

The striker knows all about Paradise and the ability for the supporters to really drive the time on, having played there on occasion during his time in Glasgow a few years back. Itten also compared the famous atmosphere created by the Celtic fans to that of Turkish giants, Galatasaray. “We did really well at Galatasaray,” he said. “The noise levels are similar there to Celtic’s ground. You’ll probably hear our fans sporadically because they aren’t continually booed as the Galatasaray fans did. Fair play is in a completely different place in Scotland. But it’s not nice to know that we’re last and don’t have a point yet. We definitely want to score points in the last two games.”
