Reo Hatate has been an ever-present in the middle of the park for Celtic ever since his arrival in the winter of 2022. The Japanese midfielder has had his fair share of issues over the years, whether it be dealing with injuries or a lack of consistency. But on his day, there is no doubt that he is one of the club's best players. We have seen enough proof of that, whether it be in Glasgow Derbies against the Rangers or in the Champions League against teams like Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
Hatate has been loosely linked with an exit for some time, though. And considering the number of midfielders that Celtic appear to have on their radar heading into the summer transfer window, it certainly feels like someone is ready to depart their midfield department.
As reported by the Daily Record, there have been suggestions that Hatate could be transferred this summer as Celtic look to maximise his transfer valuation. This will probably happen.
Of course, Celtic fans are used to seeing their best players leave on a consistent basis. And it would come as no surprise if Hatate moves on this summer, having spent three-and-a-half seasons with the Hoops.
This might not be the best time for Hatate to leave though. He has not had the best season individually and there are question marks over his consistency.
In the past, there appeared to be a lot more transfer interest in Hatate. But back then, he was struggling with injury problems, which seemed to derail the idea of a move.
Let's see what the future holds for Hatate. If he does end up leaving the club, Celtic will need to bring in a replacement who is ready to start on a consistent basis.
