Celtic want Manchester United left-back Tyrell Malacia on loan | OneFootball

Celtic are keeping tabs on Manchester United left-back Tyrell Malacia if they fail to land his Arsenal counterpart Kieran Tierney ahead of the January transfer window deadline, according to the Daily Mail journalist Stephen McGowan.

The Parkhead club have agreed a pre-contract deal with Tierney ahead of a summer return, but they want him on loan right now after Barcelona recalled Alex Valle.

However, the Gunners could hold on to him until the end of the season if they lose one of their options in the position, and the Scottish Premiership club are eyeing other targets.

Malacia is on the radar of Celtic for a loan deal until the summer, and Man United are willing to listen to proposals for him as he is surplus to requirements.

The Red Devils are edging closer to sealing a move for Lecce left-back Patrick Dorgu, and the 25-year-old Dutchman is expected to move on once the Denmark international arrives.

Malacia has struggled for regular playing minutes since returning from an 18-month injury lay-off last November, and Celtic are willing to offer him the opportunity he craves.

However, the Hoops will face competition from Real Betis for the services of the former Feyenoord star and will hope joining them would be more appealing to him.

They have Greg Taylor as their only recognised left-back and will look to strengthen in the position for the second half of 2024-25.

The Man Utd defender fits the bill despite his recent struggles, and his huge experience and quality should come in handy at Celtic should they land him.

The Bhoys could do with such a player within their ranks and Malacia could be open to remaining in the United Kingdom in order to prove himself at such a club, especially given that they are playing in the knockout stages in Europe.
