After lifting the Bundesliga trophy last week, Bayern Munich travelled to Sinsheim to face Hoffenheim on the final matchday of the season on Saturday afternoon.
Sitting 15th ahead of the match - three points clear of 16th-placed Heidenheim and with a six-goal advantage in goal difference - Hoffenheim were aiming to avoid slipping into the relegation play-off spot.
Bayern dominated possession from the outset but struggled to create clear-cut chances until Michael Olise produced a moment of brilliance to break the deadlock just past the half-hour mark. The former Crystal Palace winger curled a free-kick over the wall and into the net to put the champions in front.
Moments before the break, Thomas Müller nearly scored in his final Bundesliga appearance for Bayern with a goal, but the veteran couldn't keep his shot on target after a neat passing move from the Bavarians.
Bayern maintained their control after the restart and soon doubled their lead, as Joshua Kimmich found the net via a deflection off Leo Østigård in the 51st minute, following a precise pass from Olise.
Then, on the hour mark, a special moment unfolded as Thomas Müller was substituted off for the final time in a Bundesliga match for Bayern.
With nine minutes remaining, Serge Gnabry added a third, slotting a composed finish into the bottom corner to make it 3-0. But Bayern weren’t done yet - Harry Kane, coming off the bench, rounded off the win by adding a fourth late on.
Despite the defeat, Hoffenheim managed to avoid the relegation play-off spot, as Heidenheim fell 1-4 at home to Werder Bremen at Voith-Arena and remained in 16th place.
