Charlton Athletic have aided the development of several players who have gone on to play in the Premier League.
Charlton Athletic are renowned for bringing young talent through from their academy into the first-team, but they have also aided the development of prospects from other clubs.
The likes of Joe Gomez, Ezri Konsa and Ademola Lookman have all gone on to make an impact in the Premier League after coming through the ranks at Sparrows Lane, with the Addicks' youth set-up regarded as one of the best in the EFL.
Nathan Jones' current squad includes plenty of homegrown talent, with Miles Leaburn, Tyreece Campbell, Karoy Anderson, Daniel Kanu, Zach Mitchell, Ashley Maynard-Brewer and Josh Laqeretabua all having featured in League One this term.
Charlton have also taken a number of promising young players on loan from other clubs over the years, and while not all of them made an impact in SE7, there are several who went on to play at the top level of English football after their temporary spells in South London.
Let's take a look at 10 former Charlton loanees who have since played in the Premier League.
Former Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin played five games in the Championship for Charlton during a loan spell in 2014.
The Addicks picked up six points during the Frenchman's time at the club, losing just once, while his only victory came away at Reading when a goal from Igor Vetokele was enough to secure a 1-0 win.
Coquelin played 90 minutes during a 0-0 draw with Millwall at The Valley, a game that is infamous among Charlton supporters due to the fact that striker George Tucudean wasted a gilt-edged opportunity to score a memorable winner late on.
Arsène Wenger recalled Coquelin early because of an injury crisis at the Emirates, meaning that Charlton fans only briefly got to see a player who has made 105 Premier League appearances during his career.
Emmanuel Frimpong is another midfielder who joined Charlton on loan from Arsenal.
The Ghanaian played six games for the Addicks during the 2012/13 campaign, a season in which the club recorded their highest league finish since suffering relegation to the Championship in 2007.
Frimpong went on to play in the top flight for Fulham after leaving Charlton, and finished his career with 17 Premier League appearances.
Stephy Mavididi was sent on loan to Charlton twice by Arsenal to gain experience in League One, with both spells coming in consecutive seasons between 2017 and 2018.
His first stint at The Valley was cut short by a hamstring injury that he sustained against Bury, before he returned to the club the following season, and despite suffering another hamstring injury, he helped the Addicks reach the play-offs at the end of the 2017/18 campaign after returning to fitness.
Mavididi has been at Juventus, Dijon and Montpellier since leaving the Gunners, but now plays for Leicester City in the Premier League.
The 26-year-old impressed as Leicester won the Championship title last season and he has featured regularly for the Foxes so far this season in the top flight.
Left-back Ian Maatsen played 34 games in League One for Charlton as they finished seventh during the 2020/21 campaign, while on loan from Chelsea.
The Dutchman went on to feature in the top flight for the Blues and after helping Borussia Dortmund reach the Champions League final last season, he signed for Aston Villa in the summer, where he has further added to his Premier League appearances.
The signing of Josh Cullen from West Ham United is one of the best pieces of business that Charlton have completed in the loan market as a League One club.
He played a key role as the Addicks finished third during the 2018/19 season, before his cross against Sunderland at Wembley in the play-off final led to Patrick Bauer forcing home a 94th-minute winner to seal promotion to the Championship.
Cullen joined Charlton for a second loan spell that summer, and has since gone on to play Premier League football for Burnley.
Conor Gallagher joined Charlton on loan from Chelsea just five days before Cullen returned for his second temporary spell, as the Addicks prepared for their first season back in the second tier.
The 24-year-old was a relatively unknown teenager at the time but after scoring six goals and providing four assists in the Championship during the first half of the season, he was recalled by the Blues and sent to play-off chasers Swansea City instead, a decision which contributed to Charlton eventually being relegated.
Gallagher has since played in the Premier League for West Bromwich Albion, Crystal Palace and Chelsea, racking up 136 top-flight appearances before his move to Atlético Madrid in the summer.
Jesurun Rak-Sakyi was voted Player of the Year by Charlton supporters at the end of the 2022/23 season, which shows how well he performed considering he was on loan from rivals Crystal Palace.
After scoring 15 goals and providing eight assists in League One for the Addicks, the winger played in the Premier League for the Eagles the following season, before he was sent on loan to Championship outfit Sheffield United in the summer, where he is currently part of a side that looks capable of winning promotion to the top flight this term.
Sam Field is another midfielder who joined Charlton on loan ahead of the 2019/20 Championship season.
The 26-year-old made his temporary switch to The Valley from West Brom, where he made three Premier League appearances the following season, taking his total tally of games in the top flight to 22.
Goalkeeper Jed Steer played 19 games for Charlton during the first half of their 2018/19 promotion-winning campaign, having joined the club on loan from Aston Villa.
The current Peterborough United stopper has made three Premier League appearances for Villa over the course of his career, two of which came after his spell in SE7.
Neil Etheridge is another player who had two loan spells at The Valley, with the first being while he was on the books at Fulham, while the second saw him join the Addicks from League One side Oldham Athletic, despite Charlton being in the Championship.
He didn't feature for Charlton during his first loan spell in 2011, but he played twice in the second tier during his temporary move from Oldham in 2014, and earned himself a permanent deal in South London in January 2015.
The goalkeeper went on to win promotion from the Championship under Neil Warnock at Cardiff City in 2018, and was ever-present in the Premier League the following season, keeping 10 clean sheets in the top flight despite the Bluebirds suffering relegation.
