Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has seemingly taken a subtle dig at the club’s owners this week in some quotes made.

The news comes off the back of Chelsea getting an essential three points on Saturday afternoon by beating Everton 1-0 at home after a fantastic first half goal from striker Nicolas Jackson ending his 2025 goal draught.

EXCLUSIVE! Three Chelsea players who are not enjoying the football under Enzo Maresca!

It was far from an easy game for Chelsea though, and goalkeeper Robert Sanchez became the unlikely hero and was actually the reason that they could see the win out and collect all three points, making some big second half saves to deny certain goals.

Another one of Chelsea’s best players on the pitch was defender Trevoh Chalobah and really, he was a strong candidate for man of the match too. Enzo Maresca defended Chelsea’s decision to let him go on loan in the summer after then recalling him in the winter.

Maresca’s Chelsea take on Djurgarden in the Conference League semi final first leg over in Sweden tonight, and he has been speaking to the media ahead of that one.

Maresca’s dig at the owners spending?

Enzo Maresca in Chelsea’s press conference ahead of Conference League semi.

Maresca was told by a Swedish reporter that Chelsea’s squad is worth 44x times that of Djurgarden’s, to which he replied:

“Yeah but You don’t win games with money or titles, you have to spend it right.

“You are not going to win games or titles just because you spend big money.

“You have to spend money, but in the right way. we are now in the Conference League semi-final, we are fighting in our league and hopefully we can finish better in both competitions.”

He is probably just speaking in general here, but it also could be seen as a bit of a dig towards the owners spending and perhaps he is not entirely happy with what they have given him in his squad so far…

Food for thought…
