Chelsea remain interested in a deal to sign Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich, if the forward is granted an exit this month.
Tel has struggled for regular first-team football at the Bundesliga leaders due to the presence of Harry Kane. He has made just two league starts and totalled only 253 minutes of action.
The 19-year-old has not made an appearance across the club’s last three games and his future is understood to be uncertain heading into the final days of the transfer window.
Chelsea enquired into the conditions of a deal earlier in the month and remain keen. However, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the West Londoners face strong competition to sign the French forward. Seven clubs have enquired into the prospect of a loan deal and the final decision will come from Tel.
The player’s preference has been to remain at Bayern Munich but a lack of football could persuade the forward to move before the deadline.
Bayern have expressed interested in a deal to sign Christopher Nkunku from Chelsea, which could facilitate Tel’s switch to Stamford Bridge. Manchester United are also weighing up an approach for the former, who has struggled for minutes under Enzo Maresca.
