Chelsea have reportedly submitted an offer to sign Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho.

United are believed to be open to selling Garnacho this month in an effort to raise funds to improve their ailing squad, despite spending in excess of £200million last summer.

As a homegrown player, the proceeds from Garnacho’s sale would represent ‘pure profit’ on the books and greatly enhance United’s spending power.

Napoli and Chelsea have been mentioned as the two clubs with the strongest interest in landing Garnacho before the close of the winter transfer window on February 3.

Napoli have already had a bid rejected for Garnacho as United initially held out for a £70 million transfer fee for the winger. It’s understood that United lowered their asking price after holding talks with Napoli’s hierarchy but there is still a gap in valuation between the two sides.

The Serie A outfit have turned their attention to Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi, potentially giving Chelsea a clear run at Garnacho.

A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that the Blues were set to approach United to formally express their interest in Garnacho.

This was corroborated by Matt Law of The Telegraph, who noted that Chelsea are “lining up an opening bid” for Garnacho, having already made contact over his availability and made checks on his situation.

Now, TyC Sports journalist Gaston Edul, who has proven to be very reliable when it comes to Argentinian players, has revealed that Chelsea have made an offer for the United n.o 17.

Edul wrote on X, “Chelsea have made an offer for Alejandro Garnacho.”

“He wants to stay in the Premier League.”

Elsewhere, TNT Sports Argentina claim that Chelsea are willing to fork out €70m for Garnacho.

Garnacho and his teammates are set to take on Rangers in a Europa League clash in slightly over two hours, the result of which will have a huge bearing on both sides’ hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages.
