Liverpool are unbeaten in ten meetings with Chelsea, last enjoying a longer sequence between 1985 and 1990, with the Reds aiming to win four-in-a-row against the Blues for the first time since 2011.
Liverpool are now officially the champions, so will they continue to celebrate in style? Last Sunday, the Reds rubber-stamped their record-equalling 20th top division title courtesy of a come-from-behind 5-1 demolition of Spurs at Anfield; Luis Díaz, Alexis Mac Allister, Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah all on target during an afternoon of celebration on Merseyside.
Arne Slot's side have now won seven of their last eight in the Premier League, losing just one of their last 30, so have very much cruised to the title, meaning they have very little to play for during the remaining month of the season.
The same is certainly not the case for Chelsea, who are hoping to join the champions in the Champions League, while also targeting silverware too. On Thursday night, the Blues, more or less, booked their place in the Conference League final, smashing Djurgårdens 4-1 in the first leg of their semi-final in Stockholm.
Jadon Sancho and Noni Madueke on target at Stockholmsarenan, before Nicolas Jackson scored twice in six minutes to cement victory. Thus, Chelsea supporters should be very confident that their side will be taking on either Real Betis or Fiorentina in Wrocław on 28 May.
Back in the Premier League though, there is less certainty surrounding the Blues' top-five place. Enzo Maresca's team have enjoyed back-to-back victories just when they needed it most, scoring late to beat Fulham, before Jackson was the match-winner against Everton last Saturday.
So, the Blues do remain fifth, but with a nightmarish run-in, with Newcastle (A), Manchester United (H) and Nottingham Forest (A) their remaining fixtures after this one. Thus, every point counts but, considering Chelsea are unbeaten in eight home league games, dating back to Boxing Day, can they become only the third side to defeat the Slot machine this season in this heavyweight clash at Stamford Bridge?
Enzo Maresca picked a pretty strong side in Stockholm on Thursday, with Marc Cucurella, Reece James and Enzo Fernández amongst those starting. Moisés Caicedo, Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson were all introduced at half time, while centre-back duo Levi Colwill and Trevoh Chalobah will also return.
Robert Sánchez did not travel to Sweden, but is expected to recover from a knock suffered against Everton, although Wesley Fofana's injury is much more long-term.
Chelsea predicted lineup vs Liverpool: (4-2-3-1): Sánchez; James, Chalobah, Colwill, Cucurella; Fernández, Caicedo, Madueke, Palmer, Neto; Jackson.
His second half cameo against Djurgårdens means Cole Palmer is now without a goal in 18 appearances across all competitions, so can he change that at Stamford Bridge?
Out of European competition, Liverpool have had a full week of rest, well partying, so Arne Slot won't change too much. The only potential alteration could come in attack, where Luis Díaz and Cody Gakpo got the nod against Spurs, but Diogo Jota and Darwin Núñez are hoping to return this time.
Liverpool predicted lineup vs Chelsea: (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konaté, van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai; Salah, Luis Díaz, Gakpo.
Mohamed Salah took his tally to 185 Premier League goals last weekend, only Alan Shearer, Harry Kane, Wayne Rooney and Andy Cole have scored more, two of which came for Chelsea of course, although he's since scored eight times against the Blues since being discarded.
Given that Liverpool have already wrapped up the title, this clash is so difficult to call, but we are backing the Reds to win a high-scoring fixture in West London: Chelsea 1-2 Liverpool.
