Isak netted 25 goals in 40 games last season apart from providing two assists. He averaged 2.2 shots, 0.8 key passes, and 1.1 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored).
The Swedish striker is a physically strong guy with a long reach. Apart from providing clinical touches around the penalty box, he likes to get involved in the build-up. He is also versatile when it comes to play of style and can dribble too.
It’s not the first time Chelsea have been linked with Alexander Isak. They were linked to the player previously as well alongside other prominent strikers in the market. The club really want to sign a centre-forward as they don’t completely trust Nicolas Jackson. However, most of the strikers are highly valued and their procurement would mean the English giant has to break the bank.
Newcastle United are also demanding a massive £115 million for Isak. However, the Blues will surely not pay that much and want to bring the price down to somewhere £80 million. If they fail to get so, RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko is an alternative being considered.
The biggest downside that Sesko has is the uncertainty of whether he can deliver in the Premier League or not. Isak is already a proven performer in the English league but the same cannot be said for Sesko, who notably will come at a cheaper price.
