One transfer window has just closed, and already we are turning our attentions to the next transfer window that will come next in the summer.
The summer window is always going to be much busier than January naturally, simply because it is just a much longer window and also clubs do not want to let players leave halfway through a season. We should see much more Chelsea business happen in the summer. But let’s be honest, this January was terrible for Chelsea.
Chelsea had a pretty quiet transfer window in the winter despite people like Fabrizio Romano and others telling us that it was going to be very busy! It was the opposite from busy in the end. Other than some dry loan deals done for players such as Ben Chilwell, who joined Crystal Palace on deadline day in the end, and Axel Disasi, who also went to another Premier League side in the shape of Champions League chasing Aston Villa, there really wasn’t much more than happened, especially in terms of new arrivals which the squad actually needed.
Chelsea need reinforcements, but they will now need to wait until the summer. This squad build is nowhere near complete in my view, and The Athletic have reported what Chelsea’s priorities will be for the summer.

They claim that Chelsea’s priority for the summer transfer window is a winger and a striker.
No mention of a new goalkeeper, which is quite frankly just laughable at the moment and I don’t even believe it.
They also need another new centre back because I am sure they will sell Trevoh Chalobah and Wesley Fofana is always injured. The lack of a physical defensive midfielder is a concern too.
