Newcastle United will look to bounce back to winning ways when they face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Sunday at St James’ Park.

The Magpies are heading into this game on the back of a demoralising 4-0 loss against Manchester City last week.

Newcastle are in the race for a top-four finish, but three defeats in their last four Premier League games have taken them to eighth in the league table.

At least six teams are competing for the final fourth spot, and consistency will be the key as we gradually approach the business end of the season.

Chris Sutton expects Newcastle to bounce back from their woeful performance and has predicted a 2-0 victory against Forest.

The popular pundit said to BBC Sport: “I’d love to say my boyhood club, Nottingham Forest, will respond to their defeat at Fulham, but this game is actually quite simple for me to predict because I am expecting Newcastle to bounce back from their woeful performance and result against Manchester City last weekend.

“I just think there will be a big reaction from Alexander Isak, who was kept really quiet by City, and a real response from their whole team.”

Newcastle have almost an identical record both home and away. The Magpies have won six games, both at home and away.

Forest are third in the league table with 47 points. Nuno Espirito Santo has done a terrific job at the club, but this fixture presents an opportunity for the Magpies to close the gap with them.

They lost 2-1 against Fulham away from home last week and will be looking to avoid another defeat on their roads.
