AS Monaco announces the definitive transfer of 22-year-old French defender, Chrislain Matsima, to FC Augsburg where he had been on loan this season with an option to buy.

Having appeared 17 times (15 starts, 1 goal) since the start of the season with FC Augsburg, where he has gradually established himself in defense, Chrislain Matsima has signed permanently for the team who are currently twelfth in the Bundesliga.

Three podiums in the Principality

Before this experience in Germany, Chrislain Matsima, trained on the Rock, had played 41 matches with the Rouge et Blanc since his professional debut in September 2020, at the age of 18, against RC Strasbourg (in a 3-2 win).

With AS Monaco, Chrislain contributed to the team’s journey to the final of the Coupe de France in 2021. He also took part in three podium finishes in Ligue 1, achieved in 2021, 2022 and 2024. At the same time, Chrislain played, on loan, with FC Lorient (in 2022) and Clermont Foot 63 (in 2024).

Silver medal at the Games

His performances opened the doors to the French U-21 Team for him in the fall of 2023. With Thierry Henry’s Olympic Team, he won last summer the silver medal at Paris 2024, alongside Maghnes Akliouche and Soungoutou Magassa.
