CM: Pioli derby drought a distant memory as Inzaghi struggles against new Milan

In recent years, AC Milan have been left dreading the Derby della Madonnina, but this season, the Rossoneri have not been beaten thus far, with Simone Inzaghi struggling a little.
Stefano Pioli’s derby record left a lot to be desired, with Milan failing to get results on a consistent basis. However, this season, something seems to have switched, with the Rossoneri starting to put together a bit of a run themselves.
Last night’s draw marked four without a defeat for the Diavolo, leading Calciomercato.com to question whether it is now Simone Inzaghi who is beginning to struggle in this fixture, just as Pioli once did.
The report states that three factors are playing in Milan’s favour.
Firstly, is the matter of positions, both in the game and in the league. This season, the Rossoneri have entered these games in ‘difficult’ situations, meaning they have had to play a more cautious game, however, Pioli’s team were more willing to give up space in behind, whilst Paulo Fonseca and Sergio Conceicao have both preferred to give the Nerazzurri the freedom of the flanks.
This then leads to the technical factor, where Inzaghi has not had the facilities to play his best performers on the flanks, which has often helped the Rossoneri significantly.
Finally, there is the issue of personnel for Inter, where they struggle to face an ‘atypical centre forward’. Tammy Abraham, the man chosen from the start, was big for Milan last night, popping up with a goal, but it was his complete game which caused the real issues.
Perhaps, a blueprint is in place.
