Conceicao backs Gimenez to return to scoring form despite month drought: “Not an easy period”

AC Milan striker Santiago Gimenez finds himself in the middle of a difficult period, however, after joining midway through the season, the path was never going to be easy.
In an ideal world, Milan signed Gimenez from Feyenoord, causing the Rossoneri to progress through the Champions League against a striker-less Dutch outfit, and start driving up the Serie A table. However, that has not been the case.
Instead, the club have hit a rough patch, and as much as Gimenez would like to be the answer, he has not been able to contribute regularly so far.
Whilst this is not to say the signs are there, the Mexican certainly has not hit the ground running as the club would like. However, this is not a bad thing at all, and is certainly not something to panic about, as Sergio Conceicao stated.

After the game last night, Conceicao spoke to the press about the patch which Gimenez finds himself in, and he was quite open about his struggles adapting to Serie A.
Gimenez hasn’t scored for nearly a month, how is he?
“He’s working hard, during the week I see him very focused on all the things we do with him and the other forwards. It’s not an easy period here in Italy, with teams organised on a defensive level: a normal period is needed to adapt. It will be very important for the rest of the season, I’m sure of it.”
