Fiorentina humiliated Austrian side LASK 7-0 at the Stadio Franchi to bump up their Conference League goal difference, including Amir Richardson and a Riccardo Sottil brace.
The Viola won their last eight Serie A matches in a row, but were playing catch-up in the Conference League after a 2-1 defeat to APOEL and went out of the Coppa Italia on penalties to Empoli. They were also badly shaken by Edoardo Bove’s medical emergency, though he was released from hospital yesterday with an implanted defibrillator. Danilo Cataldi and Marin Pongracic were injured, with Cristiano Biraghi frozen out pending a likely January sale. Austrians LASK missed Andres Andrade, Moses Usor, Lenny Pintor, Boateng, Philipp Ziereis and suspended Jorg Siebenhandl.
Moise Kean had the ball in the net in only the second minute when Rolando Mandragora’s ball over the top bounced, Christian Kouame let it go and the goalkeeper failed to make contact either, allowing the striker to bundle into an empty net. However, it was disallowed by VAR for Kean’s handling offence.
Fiorentina did take the lead soon after, as Parisi volleyed a cross back from the by-line for Riccardo Sottil’s acrobatic finish into the roof of the net from six yards.
It should’ve been 2-0 only for Kouame to drill wide of the open goal when the ‘keeper had again wandered out.
However, they nearly gifted LASK an equaliser moments later when Michael Kayode got his attempted chest back all wrong, teenage goalkeeper Tommaso Martinelli managed to push the Maximilian Entrup tap-in onto the crossbar and it was cleared off the line.
Fiorentina did double their advantage when Kouame ran onto a loose ball after a probable foul on Kean, drew out the wayward goalkeeper and pulled back so Jonathan Ikone could tap into an empty net.

The third came before half-time with Sottil floating a free kick to the far post, where Amir Richardson steered his header back across the goalkeeper from six yards.
It could’ve been more, as Kean also clipped the crossbar in first half stoppages after turning Stojkovic inside the penalty area.
Sottil completed his brace with a bit of effort, as the first shot from 12 yards was charged down, but he drilled in the rebound.
Albert Gudmundsson came on and his shot skimmed the upright from the edge of the area, then moments later his inspired disguised pass allowed Rolando Mandragora to effectively walk the ball into the net for 5-0.
The sixth was a bit of luck, as the pull-back was for Andrea Colpani, but ricocheted in off the shins of Filip Stojkovic.
Beltran was caught by Flecker in the penalty area and Gudmundsson made it 7-0 when calmly rolling in from the spot.
Fiorentina would’ve had another penalty in stoppages, but Kouame was offside before being brought down.
