CorSera: Milan in ‘free fall’ but Conceicao is not at risk – the reason

AC Milan seem to be sinking deeper and deeper with each game, but Sergio Conceicao is not currently at risk of being sacked as per a report.
This morning’s edition of Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) describes Milan as being in ‘free fall’. Last night against Lazio a third defeat in a row arrived amid the protests at San Siro, one which leaves the team in ninth place.
The Rossoneri were once again punished by the key incidents, a constant theme just like the unacceptable attitude in the first half. At this point a legitimate question arises: are the team actually behind the coach?
At the end of the match the club did not want to make gut decisions and proceed with a further change in manager. So for the moment, Conceiçao will remain in his place. Reflections are ongoing but after Paulo Fonseca’s sacking at the end of December, a further destabilising move is not desired.
In recent days there had been rumours of the Portuguese’s possible farewell in the event of a defeat against Lazio, with Mauro Tassotti – already at the club as Massimo Oddo’s collaborator for Milan Futuro – in his place until the end of the season, but for now everything will remain as it is.
Some thought that Conceiçao could resign, but the Rossoneri coach has no intention of doing so even though he is aware that Milan’s situation is truly extremely difficulty. His comments at the end of the game seemed to put blame on the toxic atmosphere surrounding the club.

“We prepared the match in a very short time, we talked about this atmosphere and it was strange: first time it’s happened to me in my career. The players feel it: I was a player and we know that when it’s like this the boots are hot,” he said.
“It’s not easy: when a dribble, a pass and the opponent scores a goal… The team showed great character when they were left with ten men, we could have even won. In the end this penalty happened.
“The players give me positive answers. One thing is between us in training, after it is entering a difficult situation that has been there since the beginning of the season. We try to work on this too, not only on a tactical and physical level.”
