Kyle Walker is expected to land in Italy today in order to begin the final steps of sealing his move to AC Milan from Manchester City.

As Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) confirm, Milan are getting ready to welcome Walker as their first January signing, while it will be a first adventure away from England for the defender at the age of 34.

The deal was concluded yesterday when Manchester City accepted the formula of a loan with an option to buy set at €5m. Walker will sign a contract until 2027 and will earn around €2.5m net until June, before increasing his salary to €4.5m if it becomes a permanent deal.

The mistakes made by the management over the summer with regards to the right-back role needed acting upon, and that’s why the directors have moved swiftly to seize an opportunity and to try fix a hole,

Walker has played for Aston Villa, Sheffield United, Tottenham and Manchester City in his career, winning 17 trophies with the latter, including a Champions League and six Premier Leagues among many other honours.

For years he has been one of the best in his role, and Milan also noted Walker’s desire to test himself abroad. He will add experience to the dressing room but above all a winning mentality, a characteristic that in recent weeks Sergio Conceicao has said is missing among his players.
