Inter are holding their breath after learning that Denzel Dumfries will certainly miss the first games following the international break, including the Coppa Italia Derby della Madonnina, as they await further details on the severity of his injury.
The Netherlands officially dropped the right wing-back from their squad on Monday following preliminary checks conducted after the Nerazzurri’s 2-0 win over Atalanta. Coach Simone Inzaghi had substituted him in the second half after he was seen clutching his leg.

According to Calciomercato.com, Dumfries is set to return to Milan for further tests within 48-72 hours, but initial results have already confirmed he will be sidelined for at least a week once club football resumes after the international break.
It means that Inzaghi will have to do without one of his stand-out players of the season for Serie A clashes against Udinese and Parma, as well as for the Coppa Italia semifinal first leg against city rivals Milan on 2 April.

However, Inter’s biggest concern is the possibility of Dumfries missing their Champions League quarterfinal first leg against Bayern Munich, with the two sides set to face off at the Allianz Arena on April 8.
While the Dutch defender is determined to accelerate his recovery, Inter’s medical staff will exercise full caution to prevent any setbacks or risk of relapse.
