Real Madrid’s Federico Valverde fired Uruguay into a 55th minute lead with a fierce strike from the edge of the box which gave Ederson no chance.

Brazil were level just seven minutes later with a well-struck volley from Flamengo midfielder Gerson.

The draw means that the Selecao are currently fifth in the South American table with the top six countries qualifying for the 2026 World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States.

Fellow goalkeeper Stefan Ortega Moreno was an unused substitute in Germany’s 1-1 Nations League draw with Hungary following his first call-up to the national team.

City youngsters Jacob Wright and Max Alleyne featured for England under-20s as they also drew 1-1 in the U20 Euro Elite League.

Captained by Wright, the young Three Lions side claimed a point in Poland to remain second in the table.
