England up for WSL Player of the Month award | OneFootball

Bethany England has been named as a contender for the Barclays Women’s Super League’s December Player of the Month award.

Having found the back of the net on five occasions in the league so far this campaign, our captain registered three of them alone in December as she helped us extend our unbeaten run to four games before we concluded our fixtures for the calendar year.

Her brace at the beginning of the month helped us overcome Everton to secure a much-needed three points in the WSL, firing home from close-range before converting from the penalty spot to seal the win.

She made it three goals in two games after scoring the opener against Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend, slotting home from close range after terrific play by Jess Naz and Martha Thomas down the right-hand side to find Bethany in and around the six-yard box.

However, to take the honour, Bethany will have to contend with West Ham’s Viviane Asseyi, Arsenal’s Steph Catley and Alessia Russo, Manchester United’s Dominique Janssen and Everton’s Sara Holmgaard.
