Enzo Fernandez has revealed Chelsea are trying to avoid unrealistic expectations after being questioned about Enzo Maresca saying the Blues aren’t in the title race.
Chelsea have made a very strong start to the season and have lost just two of their 15 league games, whilst they are also the top scorers in the division with 35 goals.
Maresca’s men sit second four points behind leaders Liverpool, who have a game in hand, whilst they are two points ahead of Arsenal in third and four ahead of Manchester City in fourth.
Chelsea have exceeded most people’s expectations so far and their start has seen talk of being title contenders increase with each win.
Maresca has played down that talk on multiple occasions this season, with the Blues taking things one game at a time as they look to secure a top four finish and return to the Champions League.

Fernandez, who has been in outstanding form since the November international break stated Chelsea want to avoid unrealistic expectations when asked about Maresca saying the Blues weren’t title contenders.
“Look, what we’re trying to avoid is generating unrealistic expectations,” he told Telemundo Sports as cited on X.com.
“Enzo has been with us six months. Chelsea is a club that demands we be at the top and be in the mix. But as I always said, long way to go. I dream of that obviously, as a player you have to keep this mindset, it helps push us every day to achieve our goals.”
Fernandez is right in what he says and it’s important not to generate unrealistic expectations, although he has previously said the Blues want to win the title.
