Erling Haaland returned to the Manchester City side with a bang on Wednesday night.
The Norwegian grabbed the decisive goal as the Citizens won 1-0 at Tottenham Hotspur. Three points in North London saw City move back into the top four, overhauling Chelsea to climb into the Champions League places.
Haaland has continued to fire even when those around him have struggled this season. The back-to-back Premier League Golden Boot winner has 28 goals in 36 appearances for the Blues in all competitions.
Haaland’s winner at Spurs was also his 20th in the Premier League this season. He’s become just the second player in Premier League history to reach 20+ goals in each of his first three campaigns in the division.
Former Manchester United forward Ruud van Nistelrooy was the only previous player to achieve the feat.
The Dutchman scored 23, 25 and 20 league goals for the Red Devils between 2001/02 and 2003/04, following his arrival from PSV Eindhoven. The second of those seasons saw Van Nistelrooy claim the Premier League’s Golden Boot, as Manchester United won the title.
