Erling Haaland, Omar Marmoush and Nico O’Reilly are all in contention for the Etihad Player of the Month award for March.

The trio have been heavily involved as we progressed to the FA Cup semi-finals and registered one draw and a defeat in the Premier League.

Abdukodir Khusanov was a first-time winner in February, while Marmoush and O’Reilly will be hoping to emulate him this time around.

Here we’ll outline each player’s credentials…

Erling Haaland

Haaland has won the award twice already this season, picking up the August and September honours.

The No.9 has this month scored twice and laid on an assist across his four appearances.

His first goal contribution came very late on in the FA Cup fifth round win over Plymouth Argyle. Sent in behind down the right, Haaland squared for Kevin De Bruyne to tap home and seal the victory.

He then scored an early penalty in the Premier League draw with Brighton to become the quickest player ever to 100 goal involvements in the division – needing just 94 games.

Finally, his equaliser at Bournemouth just last weekend was pivotal in turning that FA Cup quarter-final around.

Omar Marmoush

After an eye-catching hat-trick against Newcastle United in February, Marmoush has continued to go strength to strength in recent weeks.

The Egyptian forward has been used as the focal point at the top of the pitch as well as operating in the space behind Erling Haaland, looking equally adept in both roles.

His standout moment came when he thumped a brilliant strike from distance against Brighton that left goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen with no chance.

Then, as a second-half substitute at Bournemouth, he scored the decisive goal that won Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final and guaranteed a seventh successive semi-final.

Just two months into his City career, Marmoush will be hoping to win the award for the very first time.

Nico O’Reilly

Two goals to start the month, two assists to end it.

It’s been an FA Cup campaign to remember for our Academy graduate.

O’Reilly, naturally a midfielder but playing out of position at left-back for Pep Guardiola’s side, scored two headers against Plymouth Argyle for his first senior goals and to turn around that fifth round tie.

Then, coming on at half time at Bournemouth with City a goal down, O’Reilly’s energy and eye for a pass was the key factor in our comeback victory on the south coast.

He burst beyond Antoine Semenyo just minutes after entering the action to cross for Erling Haaland before pouncing on a loose ball and flicking to Omar Marmoush to score the winner.

He was rightly named Man of the Match and lauded by Pep and our travelling fans.
