Former AC Milan and Real Madrid star Antonio Cassano has slammed Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi in his latest interview.
During his chat with Viva El Futbol via FCInter1908, Cassano questioned Inzaghi’s tactical choices.
The 48-year-old has become one of Europe’s most highly-rated coaches since joining Inter from Lazio in 2021.
Six major trophies, including last season’s maiden Scudetto, perhaps best illustrate Inzaghi’s stellar work at Giuseppe Meazza.
Moreover, he guided the Nerazzurri to the UEFA Champions League final in 2023.
Despite losing to Manchester City in Istanbul, it was a testament to his managerial credentials.
Last season’s Serie A triumph remains Inzaghi’s crown achievement at Inter.
However, he has already set the groundwork for another domestic success.
Meanwhile, Cassano has a different opinion.
Inzaghi’s habit of rotating his squad week in, week out has been a hallmark of his hugely successful tenure.
But Cassano believes the Italian tactician sometimes overuses rotation and refuses to give high-performing stars enough credit.
“I have been pro-Inzaghi but now I can’t be,” he started. “You tell me that he improves the players, but I don’t see it that way,
“One of the best is De Vrij, whom he has always abandoned. Then, if someone has good press, they are covered: until Acerbi was doing well, De Vrij was never noticed, who was one of the best three defenders at the European Championship.
“He was sidelined for three years, three years. Bastoni is good at building up play, every time he plays far from the goal he struggles: he does well in Italy because there’s little to no marking.
“He builds well and is always the first outlet in defense.
“Dimarco has grown a lot with Inzaghi: with Juric he played as a center-back, while here he is doing very well.
“Dumfries and Darmian do their job.”
