Ex-Barcelona boss Xavi contacted by Serie A giants | OneFootball

Former Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernández has been contacted by the brass at one of Italian football’s leading clubs, over the possibility of taking over as new manager.

That’s according to French outlet L’Équipe, who point towards Juventus as the outfit in question.

Juve, for their part, are in the midst of what has been a largely disappointing campaign to date.

Despite widespread excitement following a productive summer transfer window and a number of high-profile arrivals, the Bianconeri have for the most part struggled, long eliminated from the Scudetto title race.

Much of the blame for as much has been placed on the shoulders of Thiago Motta, who replaced Massimiliano Allegri on the bench in Turin ahead of the new campaign.

And, if the latest word stemming from the media on Monday is anything to go by, then plans in the case of Motta failing to turn this situation around are already being put in place at the Allianz Stadium.

As per a report from L’Équipe:

‘The Italians have made contact in recent hours with Xavi, the former FC Barcelona coach, to begin informal discussions.’

These contacts are labelled as exploratory, with a change on the Juve bench not considered in any way imminent.

Still, Xavi’s is a profile which is liked by those behind the scenes in Turin, meaning a future move for his services is not at all ruled out.
