Former La Liga referee Mateu Lahoz has revealed his take that Barcelona were denied a stonewall penalty against Getafe over the weekend.
Barcelona, of course, were back in action on Saturday, making the trip to the Estadio Coliseum for a La Liga meeting with Getafe.
In the midst of a concerning stretch of form in the league, the Blaugrana headed into proceedings in the knowledge that nothing but a three-point haul would suffice.
When all was said and done, though, Hansi Flick’s troops were forced to settle for a share of the spoils, in a 1-1 draw.
Adding further to the post-match frustrations on Barca’s part was the fact that, late in the action in Madrid, the visitors were denied a penalty for a clumsy challenge on Jules Koundé in the Getafe penalty area.
And one individual of the opinion that a spot-kick should indeed have been awarded to the Catalans, as alluded to above, is Mateu Lahoz.
Speaking as part of his role with Movistar, on Monday, former La Liga referee Lahoz assured:
“That’s a clear penalty on Koundé. I don’t think it’s a controversial case. The referees committee itself said before the start of the season that a penalty kick would be awarded for holding inside the penalty box.”
