Nicolas Jackson is now 9 games without a goal, and it’s reminding everyone that Chelsea are still desperately in need of other options up top.

Today’s report from TBR exclusively names two of them – both of which are realistic targets for the summer.

First up is Samu Aghehowa – née Omorodion – who has one of our top targets last summer, and almost joined the club.

Things fell apart at the last minute and he went to Porto, but there’s very clearly a lot of admiration from Chelsea’s scouting team for the big, physical striker. He’s making short work of the Portuguese league, scoring 18 goals already and assisting a crucial late equaliser in the title race on Friday night.

Chelsea apparently had scouts at that game to see the Spanish youth international in the flesh as he continues to make great progress.

Harder emerges as top option for Blues as they push for new striker talent

Aghehowa is not the only striker based in Portugal that the Blues are watching. Conrad Harder of Sporting has been filling in for the much in demand Viktor Gyokeres of late, and doing very nicely too. The huge baby faced Dane has an impressive 11 goals and 7 assists this season, and given his age (19) looks like just the sort of player that our sporting director would love to snap up.

The problem is that his future is so intertwined with Gyokeres. There’s no way Sporting let them both go, but if they sell Gyokeres they’ll be even more keen to keep Harder, even if only to increase his value for another year or two.

As per usual, the Portuguese sides are all ahead of the curve and ready to make serious bank from greedy (and desperate) Premier League teams.
