Chelsea’s January has been slow to get going, but it’s finally in motion now and a long awaited move is about to come to fruition it seems.

Harvey Vale’s lost season has been slightly forgotten in the light of bigger names going through a similar situation, but the academy product has long outgrown Development Squad football and has needed a transfer. It looks like he’s finally got one.

Ben Jacobs is exclusively reporting tonight that QPR have made an offer to sign him, and that the youngster has agreed terms to move up the North End Road.

They are in “advanced talks” with Chelsea over technicalities like bonus payments and a sell on clause. We would imagine that latter element is key – the talk all this time about Vale has been that Chelsea aren’t looking for a big fee up front at all – in fact there was some talk he’d be allowed to move on a free. The Blues just want to be beneficiaries of any future major move that Vale makes.

Vale finally set to benefit from permanent home away from Chelsea

After briefly looking like he might become at least a squad player for the senior team, Harvey has suffered from the numerous manager changes and some bad loans. However he’s already proved he’s good enough for the Championship, and QPR are an interesting team on the bubble right now.

We wish Harvey all the best and we’re looking forward to seeing what he can do when he finally has a permanent home and the chance to settle at a team.

Vale was one of 5 players the Blues wanted to move on in this window. So far, only Alex Matos has departed from that group, and that was on loan. So let’s hope this one gets over the line and our sporting directors can celebrate moving to 1 from 5.
