Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford is reportedly edging ever close to sealing a transfer to Aston Villa.
The 27-year-old has been an outcast at Ruben Amorim’s camp since the Manchester Derby in mid-December. The Portuguese manager cited the player’s lack of effort in training as the reason behind his omission. He even went on to say he’d rather field his 63-year-old goalkeeper’s coach Jorge Vital instead of the England international.
Nevertheless, the 39-year-old had eased his stance on the player in recent days, prompting some to suspect a U-turn in the making, especially amidst the lack of options on the market.
But out of the blue, Aston Villa have emerged as a serious destination for Rashford. The Villains have recently sold their striker Jhon Duran to Al-Nassr, so they’ll be looking for a replacement to maintain a solid squad depth, especially following their direct qualification for the Champions League round of 16.
According to British journalist David Ornstein, the Birmingham-based club is now close to reaching a full agreement to sign the Man Utd outcast.

The Athletic correspondent is now expecting the move to go through, with Rashford joining Aston Villa on loan until the end of the season, possibly with an option to buy.
Earlier on Saturday morning, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano had revealed that the Villains’ head coach Unai Emery had given the green light for the management to pursue the player. Hence, it appears that the track leading Rashford is fast advancing, as it should be considering that the transfer market will be slammed shut on Monday night.
Hence, it remains to be seen if the Champions League boys will be able to seal the deal in time and put a merciful end to one of the biggest transfer sagas of the winter.
