Manchester United’s plans for Marcus Rashford and Antony haven’t changed despite Ruben Amorim’s words of praise.

The duo were regulars in Erik ten Hag’s starting lineup, but were dropped by the Portuguese manager who took over in November. Rasford was completely omitted from the 40-year-old plans before heading to Aston Villa on loan, while Antony wound up joining Real Betis.

Luckily for the duo, they have been enjoying far more success since leaving Carrington, both cementing themselves as key players for their respective clubs.

While Amorim was never fond of either of them, he expressed his delight with their current forms, insisting it is great news for the club.

“All the players that are on loan, they will return and then the club will decide what to do at the end of the season,” said the Man Utd boss in his press conference on Friday via Sky Sports.

“The talent of Rashford, even Antony [at Real Betis], they have talent. They have to put that on the team. We are really happy because if you put one player on loan, the best thing for us is for them to perform and they are performing.”

Nevertheless, Fabrizio Romano insists that both players remain outside the club’s plans.

In his most recent video update on YouTube, the Italian journalist revealed that Rashford and Antony are both destined to leave the club for good in the summer, albeit their destinations remain uncertain.

In Rasford’s case, Aston Villa have an option to buy the striker for £40 million. The England international enjoys a great rapport with his manager, Unai Emery, but it remains to be seen if the Villains will have the financial means to pull off the operation. This could largely hinge on the outcome of the Champions League race.

Unlike Villa, Betis don’t have the option to buy Antony, but the Andalusians have already voiced their desire to negotiate a new deal with United on several occasions. But it remains to be seen if all parties will be able to find a common ground.
