FC Twente’s Sem Steijn continues to impress as he tops the Eredivisie scoring charts | OneFootball

Sem Steijn has, once again, been sensational in the Eredivisie this season for FC Twente. The forward has an incredible 18 goals in just 21 matches and leads all players in the league. Add to that his goals in Europe and the cup, the 23-year-old Dutchman has 21 goals in just 33 games overall. He has also provided five assists. Surely, this summer a big club will finally prize him away from the Dutch side?

However, with a contract until 2028, any suitors will have to pay a decent fee. Transfermarkt value the midfielder at around €10m, but the club will likely demand a fee that exceeds this in valuation. Given that Steijn is performing better than his impressive 2023/2024 campaign, they are well within their rights to. Last year he scored 19 goals in 39 games with three assists. He has proven quite the signing for FC Twente since the summer of 2022. He left ADO Den Haag to join them on a free and has gone on to score 46 goals in 109 games.

As a result of Steijn’s performances, Twente have kept in touch with third and fourth place in the Eredivisie and a chance at avoiding the European play offs. They currently have 39 points from 22 games, just one point behind Feyenoord in fourth and four points behind the surprise package of the season FC Utrecht in third.
