Manchester City are in line to pocket a staggering cash boost from their involvement at next summer’s FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, it has been revealed.

Pep Guardiola and his players will travel to the United States following the conclusion of the ongoing campaign, and before the start of the next season as they partake in a revamped and expanded version of the tournament they won back in 2023.

It was confirmed last week that Manchester City would be placed into Group G at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup where they will take on Juventus of Italy, Al Ain of the United Arab Emirates, and Wydad AC of Morocco.

And whilst the tournament is no doubt another opportunity to add to the outstanding history already created by Guardiola since arriving at the club in the summer of 2016, the Club World Cup is also set to bring some huge commercial benefits for Etihad officials.

That follows a blockbuster broadcasting agreement struck between FIFA and DAZN following weeks and months of uncertainty over which of the globe’s biggest television companies would be open to issuing a mammoth fee at relatively short notice.

According to the information of MailSport’s Mike Keegan, Manchester City are in line to net summer windfalls of up to £60 million following FIFA’s $1 billion television deal with streaming giants DAZN for the right to broadcast the 2025 Club World Cup across the globe.

The report claims that while ‘no final decision has been made’, City have been told expect between £50 million and £60 million from their participation in the tournament, with figures unlikely to be rivalled by Premier League clubs on their respective summer pre-season tours.

The report also notes that English top-flight clubs would be fortunate to make around 10 per cent of £60 million, according to insiders, through their global tours ahead of the start of the 2025/26 season.

Pep Guardiola has already pointed out just how much of a demanding season the ongoing campaign will be for his players, and has previously suggested that the club could be subject to upwards of 70 matches including next summer’s tournament Stateside.

Speaking during a recent press conference, the Manchester City manager said, “Maybe we go to the [FIFA Club] World Cup, arriving in the last stages of competitions and we’re going to play almost 70 games! 70 games is like NBA, but in the NBA they have four months holidays, and we have three weeks!”

As such, City will require a strong compliment of players to get them through the campaign whilst remaining competitive and whilst Rodri had been originally ruled out for the rest of the season through a double knee injury, the Spaniard is eyeing a return for the USA competition.

As part of his post-Ballon d’Or triumph media duties, Rodri said, “Now the seasons are getting longer and the [FIFA Club] World Cup ends on July 13, I have in mind to return this year, as a challenge.”
