Barcelona ace Eric Garcia has re-emerged as one of the most sought-after defenders ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old Spanish international has made himself a valuable player for the Blaugrana with his versatility and adaptability, gaining prominence in the second half of the season under Hansi Flick.

The former Manchester City starlet’s progress has not gone unnoticed as clubs within Spain and outside have set their sights on him.

Five teams, including Tottenham, want Eric Garcia

Indeed, according to Fichajes, as many as five clubs across Europe are interested in luring Eric Garcia away from Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

Girona, Real Sociedad, Real Betis, Como, and Tottenham are the five teams who are gunning to sign the Spanish international, who won the gold medal at the Paris Olympics last year.

Girona have been eyeing Garcia since last summer after the 24-year-old enjoyed a successful stint on loan at the Catalan club in 2023/24. In fact, a January move was close before Flick decided to block the defender’s exit. However, Girona are again back looking to sign him.

Como, too, were heavily linked with a move for Eric in January with Cesc Fabregas pushing for his acquisition. With their continuity in Serie A for another season almost certain, they are once again pursuing the signing of the Barça defender.

Beyond that, Real Betis and Real Sociedad also want Garcia while Tottenham wish to take the versatile star back to the Premier League five years after he left Manchester City.

Exit unlikely; renewal in the works

However, as things stand, Barcelona are unlikely to sanction the departure of Eric Garcia in the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old ace is seen as a valuable member of the team by manager Flick, considering the fact that the Spaniard can play at centre-back, defensive midfield, and right-back.

As such, Barça are already working on a new three-year contract for Garcia, with his current deal set to run out next year.
