AC Milan are among the sides who have been credited with an interest in signing Nottingham Forest’s in-form striker Chris Wood.
According to Football Insider, Milan and Napoli ‘monitoring Wood’s contract talks at Nottingham Forest’. They are still in discussions with the 33-year-old over an extension, given his current deal only runs until the end of the season.
Saudi Pro League clubs are also attentive to Wood’s situation, knowing that from January 1 he can sign a pre-contract with a club abroad. He has 11 goals in 19 Premier League games so far with Forest now second in the league and dreaming of European football.
Milan will face a striker conundrum once the end of the season comes around for several reasons. Firstly, the summer signing Alvaro Morata has been far from prolific so far. Secondly and thirdly, both Tammy Abraham (loan) and Luka Jovic (expiring deal) are both currently set to depart.
The Rossoneri have been no strangers to dipping into the market for veteran centre-forward options either. Zlatan Ibrahimovic was in his late 30s when he returned, Olivier Giroud was in his mid-30s and Morata is 32.
However, more signs point towards the management investing in a younger profile given they have put off doing so for many years now.
