Last night, FC Barcelona saw their main rivals in Spain, Real Madrid, get another win in La Liga to maintain equality in points with them.

The Merengues were playing against Girona at the Santiago Bernabeu, and after dropping points in their last three league outings, were able to get the full three points from this game with goals from Luka Modric and Vinicius Junior.

There were several former Barcelona players playing in that game as well. One of these players was Oriol Romeu, who rejoined Girona last summer after playing a season with the Blaugranes.

Another such player was the Brazilian Arthur Melo, who had joined Michel’s side on loan only in the last winter transfer window, and this was his only second game with his new side.

After spending two seasons at the Catalan club, in which his performances were not up to the expected standards, the Brazilian left for Juventus for €80 million in 2020, while the Blaugranes got Miralem Pjanic in exchange for €60 million.

Arthur played 35 minutes at the Santiago Bernabeu last night, but it was his actions after the game that might concern Barcelona fans more than his actions on the pitch.

As SPORT has reported, the midfielder spoke to the media after the game, and while talking about the match, he identified Real Madrid as the best team in the world:

“Every match we play, we try to do our best and always want to win. But you’re playing against Madrid at the Bernabéu, for me the best team in the world and full of confidence. However, no matter who we face, we will go for the victory with great respect.”
