French sides want to avoid Champions League encounter with PSG | OneFootball

After their 4-1 win over VfB Stuttgart on Wednesday night, Paris Saint-Germain booked their place in the next phase of the UEFA Champions League.

PSG are now guaranteed to face a Ligue 1 side in the play-off round. Both Stade Brestois and AS Monaco lost their final matches of the League Phase, however, both had already confirmed their qualification. One of the two will now face Les Parisiens; both could also face Benfica.

It is clear that neither Brest nor Monaco want to face PSG. “I would find it a bit of a shame [if we were to play PSG],” said Monaco forward Breel Embolo in a mixed zone interview, attended by Get French Football News. “We want our revenge against Benfica, but if it’s Paris, it’s Paris; we’ll accept it,” he added.

‘We play them enough’ – Lees-Melou on a potential date with Les Parisiens

The Principality club lost 3-2 to Benfica in a game that was dominated by refereeing controversy, including a highly controversial red card for Wilfried Singo, which changed the course of the match.

Brest are also not too keen to play PSG, at least according to Pierre Lees-Melou. “Oh f*ck!” reacted the Frenchman when he heard Les Ty-Zéfs’ potential opponents. “Let’s hope for Benfica. PSG would be rubbish. We already know them, we play them enough. It would be better if it were Benfica. You’ve brought my mood down there,” joked the Brest midfielder on Canal Plus.
