This report’s timing is particularly insisting as it comes amidst growing links between the Red Devils and former Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez. The legendary midfielder surfaced as the favourite (according based on media reports) to replace Ruben Amorim who hasn’t been able to steady the ship.

The Portuguese tactician had only been appointed in November as a replacement for Erik ten Hag, but has thus far failed to halt the shocking free fall, with the club finding itself in a miserable 15th place in the Premier League standings.

However, the source notes that Lopez has no intention to leave Barcelona, even if it means earning more playing time, and potentially more money. The Catalan is happy to play his football at his boyhood club and work his way up Hansi Flick’s pecking order.
