Fulham fans clearly gutted after losing their last five home matches to NUFC.

Only one win in their opening four Premier League matches and Fulham fans not happy at all with Marco Silva changing all 11 players for their cup defeat to Preston in midweek.

Fulham fans comment via their FulhamWeb and Friends of Fulham message boards:

‘I really don’t enjoy our home games against Newcastle, the last two seasons the games against them have been the least enjoyable and very frustrating.

Eddie Howe has totally outsmarted Silva in both games and has demonstrated that he is the master of Gamesmanship.

They have players feigning injury from the 1st minute and for some reason the referee buys into it each time

They slow the game down They break up play they time waste with their throw ins.

For a club that once had the likes of Keegan, Super Mac, Beardsley and Waddle They have none of that flair now.

Up to now Silva has found it impossible to combat.

I’m apprehensive and not expecting a lot, fingers crossed Marco and the boys can spring a surprise.’

‘I agree with the comments about gamesmanship and I’d go as far as saying that Newcastle were probably the team that ‘cheated’ the most at the Cottage last season, but not so sure that Howe outsmarted Silva. Newcastle have a superior squad to us which obviously makes a significant difference. If we’re going to get anything we need to see our ‘A’ game from the whole team.’

‘Have we ever beaten an Eddie Howe side?’

‘From what I could find, our only win against an Eddie Howe side is a 1-0 away at Bournemouth in April 2019 with Parker as caretaker and Mitrovic scoring a penalty.’

‘A bunch of cheaters full stop.’

‘We will get 3 pts today. Muniz will hit the back of the net. No more last minute shenanigans.’

‘I like your confidence but Newcastle despite multiple injuries and rumours of players being unhappy (like Gordon), they are still 3rd with 10 points. We couldn’t beat poor and underperformed West Ham, would be happy with a draw today. But I’d be very happy to eat a humble pie and have eggs throw at my face after the game!!’

‘Truth is Fulham FC have never replaced Alekander Mitrovic with a striker that can score on a regular basis and there has been plenty of chances to without costing the planet. Callum Hudson Odi for example. Truth is that Crystal Palace knew something that we didn’t because given a chusty contract for the next five years to Joachim Andersen now seems a little too generous. He played much better when he first came to the Cottage. Truth is the the majority of Premiership games are now won or lost in the last 20 minutes. Fact. With the aged squad we have with no young feet.’

‘Who’s next? Newcastle? We’ll have em. This side of ours are gonna start scoring goals. It’ll be sweet as a nut.’

‘Nelson is rapid and he should feature from the start against Newcastle. We have big guns and they come no bigger than player of the season so far ‘Adama Traore’ who is getting better than he has ever shown anywhere. Andersen was a smart signing and his blocks and kick-outs from defence cuts down the potential goals opposition used to get when we messed about in defence. Andersen is also intelligent enough to pass the ball out when necessary which is what we need defending.’

‘If we don’t win against Newcastle on Saturday, this team decision against Preston tonight will look even more stupid.’

‘The team that plays against Newcastle will be our first team not our reserves.’

‘Losing yesterday against Preston is a bitter blow.

Realistically it is our only chance of silverware.

Silva must take the blame for the team selection, we didn’t need to make 11 changes against a decent Championship team and we certainly didn’t need to change our first choice keeper and put a rookie keeper in goal. That said, we should have won yesterday and we didn’t because we once again we had no cutting edge and that’s against a championship team.

Silva played his team selection yesterday with an eye to Saturday’s game against Newcastle United, we must have a big performance and result on Saturday otherwise the defeat last night will be even more bitter and a waste of our only realistic silverware opportunity. Silva will have learned a lot from last night and won’t make the same mistakes when the FA cup starts.’

‘I think this league cup is waste of time, so did the crowd last night, two reserves teams playing each other did not attract many supporters. All this cup does is give more money to the top teams who do not really need it.’

‘Ridiculous to suggest this Cup is a waste of time, it is a route into European football and a Wembley Final, for a club like ours who haven’t won any major domestic trophy it is massive.’

‘Traore would be wasted up front as he’d be forced to spend a lot of time with his back to goal.’
