Just under four months ago - it was 5 September, 2024 - Azzurra Gallo signed her first professional contract with Juventus Women.
It was understandably a day filled with emotions for the youngster, just 18 years of age, making a dream become reality after having experienced first-hand the work being done in the club’s Youth Sector. It was clear then, though, that Azzurra’s first professional contract was a starting point and not a point of arrival.
From the first day she stepped through the gates in Vinovo, all the way back in 2016/17, her ambition and hard work have been clear to see. She has always shown real maturity both on and off the pitch, which is something that has served not only herself well but her teammates as well.
By now those traits and her undeniable quality have been seen by everybody who has seen her play. That very quality led to her official promotion to the Juventus Women’s First Team this Thursday, 2 January, 2025.
The 2024/25 season has been one to remember already for Gallo, becoming a real option for coach Massimiliano Canzi and the Bianconere.
This official promotion is the crowning achievement of Azzurra’s growth, and she has been on hand to assist the First Team since the end of the 2023/24 season, even taking part in pre-season friendlies against Servette and joining the Bianconere on their US Tour in Kentucky. Since, she has been relied upon in Serie A, the Coppa Italia and even in the Women’s Champions League as well.
We’re sure that all of these, for her, were just markers along the path of an ambitious journey, and things that will be reflected on as part of a story that will continue to develop. These moments have given the entire club reasons to be proud, and serve as examples of how the Women’s Youth Sector is working so well. Now, the fruits of that work are being reaped.
It is an important step forward for Azzurra who, has also been at the disposal of Marco Bruzzano and the Primavera side this season, despite being a regular squad member with the First Team, and she will continue to do just that going forward as well.
