Gotham FC vs Seattle Reign FC: How to watch, time, and more of 2025 NWSL opener

The day is almost here. NJ/NY Gotham FC will open up their 2025 NWSL campaign this weekend after what felt like an offseason that would never end. The Bats saw multiple players, including some big-name ones like Crystal Dunn and Jenna Nighswonger, leave the team.
As a result, the offseason was one of drastic change. Gotham will look very different compared to 2024, and there are some questions as to whether they can repeat their success over the last two seasons, with 2023 ending in a trophy and last year a third-place finish in the standings. It might be a difficult task, but the ladies should still be strong enough to finish in the top third of the table.
It will not be easy, and the NWSL season opener will be tough to start the season. Gotham FC will be on the road when they face Seattle Reign FC. The Washington team is expected to be a little better this year after they finished 2024 in 13th place. In addition, it is always a challenge to play at Lumen Field, and the Reign did not see as high of a roster turnover as the Bats experienced. Lynn Biyendolo, formerly Williams, was their big-name acquisition after the NJ/NY side traded her to Seattle.
Therefore, Gotham FC may struggle a little to start the season due to the roster changes. It will be interesting to see how the ladies play with one another and what the chemistry will be like on the pitch. Moreover, the team is much younger this year since the majority of the new players are rookies.

If Gotham fans cannot watch or listen to the game, then they can follow along via the NWSL website and the club’s X account.
Gotham FC’s first match is unfortunately a late one. Thankfully, it is on a Saturday night, but the ladies should be playing until after midnight on the East Coast. It would be great to see the Bats reward those who stay up with all three points.
