Gotham FC's 2025 theme nights and days are unique and fun | OneFootball

NJ/NY Gotham FC's 2025 season is less than a month away. The Bats will play 13 NWSL matches at home at the newly renamed Sports Illustrated Stadium.

For most of the games, the team tends to have theme nights and days throughout the season. 2025 is no different.

On Monday, Gotham FC officially announced their theme nights. Of course, some of these celebratory games will occur during the day. As such, they should call it theme games or something else. Still, the ten fixtures that have themes will be fun events for those at the club and supporters.

A brief look at Gotham FC's theme games

The ten theme nights and days are as follows: Blue Out, Fashion Day, Not All Heroes Wear Capes, Broadway Night, Pride, Juneteenth, Boardwalk Bash, Celebración de la Comunidad, School Spirit, and Queen Kriegs.

Similar to last year, Gotham will celebrate Pride and Juneteenth. Both celebrations tend to be extremely special as the Bats honor the LGBTQIA+ community and Black excellence in the community, respectively.

However, this year, there are more unique theme nights that are not common. It is a slight shame they will not have nights like Mental Health Awareness Night and Women's Empowerment Night like they did in 2024. The team can rotate themes out though in the future.

As seen above, the themes for 2025 are a little more outside of the box. Yes, they have Blue Out, which encourages fans to wear blue at the home opener to support the Bats. But then there are themes like Boardwalk Bash. Per the club, "the match will feature a Boardwalk Bash at Fan Fest, offering fans a chance to enjoy classic boardwalk-style games, exclusive giveaways, and special summer merchandise. Whether you’re a Jersey Shore regular or favor the beaches of Long Island, all fans can come together to celebrate a summer night of soccer and community."

Boardwalk Bash is such a unique choice for a theme but represents numerous fans from all over the tri-state area. Plus, since the team plays in New Jersey and the Jersey Shore and boardwalks represent the state, this is a great choice.

Another fun theme is Broadway Night. Gotham will celebrate the plays and musicals of Broadway. Ironically, this will occur on a Friday night, when Broadway is in full swing with the 8 PM shows. If the club invites anyone out, then it would have to be someone who is not in the middle of a show.

Truthfully, the best theme game is Not All Heroes Wear Capes. Gotham FC will celebrate the heroes in the community both on and off the pitch. One can only assume that first responders and those who do a lot for the community will be honored. Fans will have to wait and see, but the fact the Bats are having this is fantastic.
