A couple of weeks ago we reported (see below) about the issues facing Newcastle United fans wanting to travel by train to the Carabao Cup final.
With North East Mayor Kim McGuinness amongst those pleading with rail bosses to do whatever they could to help.
Now on Friday, 16 days before Wembley, some positive news.
With it revealed that extra trains have been put on to help Newcastle United fans.
The extra trains mean that 1,215 more Newcastle United fans will be able to travel by rail.
‘Yes! Extra trains for the Carabao Cup final!
Delighted Network Rail and LNER have listened to our calls so 1215 more Toon Fans can get to Wembley by train.
Howay Newcastle United!’
The Mag report – 13 February 2025:
Carabao Cup final tickets went on sale to Newcastle United fans as from Wednesday (12 February 2025).
Six stages in the sales process, with various criteria dictating which of six ‘pots’ that United fans are divided into.
Newcastle United made public (see below) on Monday, all the details of how fans will be able to buy these Carabao Cup final tickets.
The pricing of the tickets was also contained in this official release from the club.
Getting hold of Carabao Cup final tickets is of course just the first step.
The next being how as Newcastle United fans will actually get to and from Wembley, if getting a ticket.
Using the train to get to away matches has become something of a challenge at times for away match regulars.
This Wembley final is no exception.
Especially when you are talking about tens of thousands of Newcastle United fans having to get from Tyneside down to London.
With line closures and reduced numbers of scheduled trains planned for that Carabao Cup final weekend, North East Mayor Kim McGuinness has now stepped in to appeal to rail bosses at Network Rail…
Hopefully this just might lead to something positive happening, we live in hope.
