Lens CEO Pierre Dréossi has confirmed that centre-back Abdukodir Khusanov (20) is expected to leave the Artois side amid interest from Premier League sides, including Manchester City. The Uzbekistan international has been an impressive presence at the back and asserted himself as a first-team regular in Will Still’s setup. Lens previously confirmed that Gestifute chief Jorge Mendes had been mandated to sell the 20-year-old Khusanov.
Speaking to DAZN before Lens’ Ligue 1 home game against Toulouse, Dréossi was adamant that Khusanov would leave the Ligue 1 side. However, he did not confirm whether the Premier League target would leave in the winter transfer window or later in the summer. “Khusanov will leave, there haven’t been any good bids yet. There will be departures and arrivals. We will have more than enough quality players to qualify for Europe.”
The RC Lens CEO confirmed that Khusanov’s exit will greatly help the Ligue 1 side’s economic situation. “If he is to leave and if the bids are interesting enough, above all, it’s about finding an economic balance.”
