AC Milan found themselves on the end of another humiliating defeat this weekend, this time at the hands of Napoli, and Arrigo Sacchi has today offered some help moving forward.

Before a ball was kicked this season, many hoped that Milan would be in the Scudetto picture, but the truth is that the club failed to ever leave the stalls. Instead, the Rossoneri started poorly, and then have continued to struggle since.

With the defeat this weekend, the Champions League hopes are all but dead, with other teams instead posing more of a threat. So, the Diavolo will likely have to settle for one of the other European competitions, if they are even so lucky to recover their season a little.

So, for many, the focus is now on the future, where almost everything can be improved, and Sacchi today has spoken to Gazzetta dello Sport about what is required for Milan, and Calciomercato.com have relayed the legend’s words.

“It was not the best Napoli of the season, but it was enough to overcome an embarrassing Milan defensively and stay in the running for the Scudetto. When you see two mistakes in defence like the ones that led to Napoli’s goals, you want to put your head in your hands.

“How is it possible to position yourself like that? Even in the second half, when I saw the slightest reaction, the team seemed disordered, confused. It’s useless, if things don’t work at the beginning, it’s very difficult to put them back together as we go along.

“To those who stop me in the street and ask me what I would do, I always answer like this: ‘To achieve great success, you need reliable people. And with that, I seem to have explained the problem of Milan today.”
